I am a 4th year university student studying in Burnaby, BC, sometimes easier just to say I study in Vancouver, concentrating in finance. Just another semester left, and I graduate with as an honors student in business. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, I made the decision to leave the nest and work on becoming independent and attend a well-known business program at Simon Fraser University.
Growing up, cooking has always been a part of our family’s life. My mom’s parents owned a chinese restaurant that they owned for 20 years. Not surprising, considering this was what most immigrants did. My grandfather was supposedly the only cook and my grandmother would prep. My grandfather on my father’s side was the sous-chef at a hotel in Calgary for over 20 years, and prior to that my grandparents owned a small restaurant off the highway where people would drop by and grab a quick bite and a coffee. Therefore, I always had great food, both Caucasian and Asian. Although I am allergic to many foods, cooking and baking has always been one of my passions.
It’s been 4 years now and decided that it would be a good idea for me to create a blog. I regret not making one when I moved out.
Just like most home-cooks out there, there is just something that makes you want to search google for recipes to make your next meal interesting. I created this blog to encourage myself to try new recipes because it can get pretty hectic during the semester and for everyone else out there that reads my blogs. Sometimes recipes aren’t as good as it may seem and I want to offer my -inexperienced- critique so, hopefully, you may try the recipe as well. I just wanted to point out that I don’t have an amazing camera (i’m a poor student) so please bare with the photo quality!
If one day, my blog becomes popular, I want people to try out the same recipes and provide valuable feedback and ideas to help improve it.
I hope you enjoyed reading this small blurb about me and why I created this blog. Please enjoy and I wish you the best on your future cooking endeavors!
